Hey everyone! Tune in tonight as USC plays its last home game of the season and Pac 8 finale against the UCLA Bruins. A big crowd is expected on hand for the game. As a fundraiser from the team, fans out there can contribute to USC Ice Hockey by pledging any dollar amount per goal scored by the Trojans tonight. You can make your pledges in person at the game or right here on this forum page. A shout out to Mr. Caravaggio who has pledged $50 for every goal + $50 for every big hit tonight. I'll be sure to let you know Dante Sr. Talk to you tonight! Alex P.S. Saturday's game was forfeited by UCLA, so a sweep is on the line for the Trojans tonight.

How many folks in attendance? How about a "hit count" update? My count is 11 based on your awesome announcing and color men. To max out our pledge, we need 6 more hits/goals.
Nice job announcing guys!

The game was worth $1k - Matt's performance in net made the difference. Dante's brother is a goalie and we always rejoice for 1 or less goal games.

Trojans sweep the Crosstown Cup with an exhilirating 6-1 win. The game was deadlocked before two lightning quick goals by Joe Scialfa of all people gave USC the 2-0 lead, a lead they wouldn't come close to surrendering the rest of the night. Here are some notes: - The second period was one of USC's best all year. They utterly dominated the Bruins physically and on the scoresheet. UCLA, who was already short guys, simply folded that period. The backbreaker was Josh Frazier's solo effort to nab the shorthanded goal. - Two big returning players for the Trojans tonight. Corey Adler was his usual fantastic penalty-killing self and played well enough to net a powerplay goal and end up on the first line. Jay Roth returned in his first action since the Oregon game and finished off a beautiful feed from Dante Caravaggio. - Speaking of Dante, a sweet and sour game for him. He played very well, earned an assist and a a lot of money for the team with his physical play, but was booted from the game in the third for getting a bit carried away. The Bruins player (Jay Boffa) was down on the ice, and Caravaggio seemed to taunt him by swinging a stick near his head. That got him a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. Dante really needs to keep his nose clean up in San Jose or he could find himself missing a game in the Pac-8 tournament. - Perhaps the worst possible game for Mitchell Landsinger. He had earned himself a place on the first line between Joyce and Roth, but earned a demotion by taking 4 minor penalties throughout the course of the game (most of which were pretty stupid). It'll be interesting to see where Mitchell fits in once everyone gets back. - Great great game by Matt Buttweiler. He was consistently in the right position, and besides a flukey goal, was picture perfect. He's starting to get a little bit of momentum. - Clark McClanathan gave me another reason to love his style tonight. Late in the third, USC inexplicably took a timeout. It turned out to be a hugely classy gesture. While the rest of the team huddled near the bench, Clark skated over to the scorers' box, had a few words with the referee, then took the mic. He took the mic and told all of the fans (especially the rowdy fraternity guys along the glass) to show UCLA some respect, let them get to their locker rooms and get home safely. It was a great moment and the absolute right thing to do. - Expect Alex Lofthus to return against SJSU despite the shoulder injury. At worst, the Trojans expect to have him back for Pac-8's. - UCLA forfeited tomorrow's Crosstown Cup Game 5, so tonight's big win secured a season sweep for USC. The win tonight also locks up the 2 seed in the Pac 8 tournament. - The broadcast booth was packed tonight. Not just with fans. We had three generations of broadcasters on the game tonight. Rob Mcpherson, one of the originals, Dave Foley, who he handed the torch to, and myself, who Dave gave the torch to. I'd never had the privilege of broadcasting with Rob before and I have to admit I was a little bit nervous. I think it all came off well. - Special thanks to everyone who made a pledge to donate to the team tonight. Mr. Caravaggio and Mr. Gawlik especially though. A very generous offer. Dante Sr., I think $700 is probably fair in terms of big big hits, but I don't think the team would turn down $1K. Glad you were tuning in.
Listen in next weekend... San Jose State is always a big time rivalry and a consistently physical (borderline dirty) opponent. Always a blast when these two teams get out on the ice. I'll be there! Official goal scorers coming shortly. -Alex

Alex, Nice job on the broadcast tonight. good to see the "old timers" back to provide the assist. the team left me off the hook with only 1 goal in the 3rd. I had previoulsy committed to sending $500 and then added the goal count to my pledge. my check for $800 will be in the mail this weekend. good luck to the team next weekend and in the pac 8's!!!
Mr. G.
