Hey everyone, Trojans and Bruins getting ready to play Game 2 in their Crosstown Cup series in under 3 hours from now, and their first of two games on back-to-back nights. Trojans are on a 4 game hot streak, going back to the Stanford series. Jay Roth is returning, but the Boys Line is no more. Coach Wilbur plans on playing Nijjar with the Wonder Twins (Joyce and Lofthus). Should be a good game.... late night thriller. Hope you can tune in. Alex

Alex:
The McClanathans lost connection to the broadcast. We did receive the first period broadcast connection. But then, you went on break at about 12:15 and it's now 1:03 and all we have is either the music background (or on my computer, no connection is available at all). The listed schedule of games also does not include Thursday's game as the "current" game (rather it seems to list the Thursday game as an archived game, even before it has completed). I will try again to reach the 866 number for the system but no one is answering. If possible, would you provide periodic updates of the game? Go Trojans! Fight on !!

USC beats UCLA 7-2 and takes a 2-0 lead in the Crosstown Cup series with a chance to win it tomorrow night at home. The Trojans entered the third period tied after having a goal taken away and a goal awarded against them on controversial plays. Instead of complaining, they shut UCLA up with a 5-goal storm in the third period. Matt Buttweiller had one of his best games of the year between the pipes, and despite the score after two, USC was clearly dominant for 90% of this game. Special thanks right off the bat to Mr. Lewis for updating anyone at home trying to tune in. The reason for why the second and third periods were not broadcast is a little technical, but has to do with the absurdly late starting time of tonight's game. On to the game summary and notes. - The player of the game was Dante Caravaggio. He didn't have the most points or the most goals, but he did something USC has had a hard time doing all season long: he got physical. He hit guys left and right (James Anderson on one of Dante's hits - "It sounded like a car accident"), played solid defense, and even scored a goal on a blast from the point that trickled across the line. He did it all and sparked the Trojans to one of the few games this year that they have played more physical than their opponent. - But don't forget his defensive partner, Jason Bush. With 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and a solid performance on the blueline, Bush may have had one of his best games of the season. He even scored the game winner. - And definitely don't forget the play of Clark McClanathan. He was promoted to the third line for this game, partnered with Koechling and Landsinger. Clark thanked Coach Wilbur for the promotion by scoring three points (2 goals, and 1 assist) and singlehandedly putting his foot on UCLA's throat. McClanathan's goals (his first on American soil this season) were not especially pretty. One goal was technically shorthanded, scored 4 seconds after UCLA got a man out of the penalty box, and both were scored off long shots deflected by UCLA defensemen in front of the net. Still, Clark played his usual high effort/energy game and made an impact yet again. It looks like he will be demoted to the fourth line yet again, but with the type of numbers he's putting up, Wilbur may have a hard time keeping him there. - James Anderson got his first point as a Trojan, assisting on Mitchell Landsinger's goal. It wasn't a stunning pass, simply a shot that rebounded to Landsinger, but Anderson will take it. He made a point of making sure the officials gave him his point. - Which might not have been a bad idea... The officials made an egregious scoring mistake, taking away Noah Comisar's skate deflection of a rebound into the back of the net off of a shot from Joshua Frazier and awarding it to Alex Schauffhausen (who played on the first line) assisted by Jason Bush. Not that Bush's true point total was distorted...... He actually got the second assist on the first goal of the game, but that assist was given to Lofthus. - Matt Buttweiller looked closer to the Buttweiller we all know and love, making some key saves and only allowing one sure goal. The first one he allowed he claims he actually had in his blocker, but after some debate amongst the referee and linesmen, the goal was awarded. Most importantly for Trojan fans though... he showed no ill effects from his groin injury. - USC needs to watch out for Daniel Vaynter, #51. Vaynter was a non-factor in Game 1 of the Crosstown Cup, but looked miles away like UCLA's best player tonight. He made some defensemen look silly and drew numerous penalties. - The first line set up chances very well, but only scored on one.... An off night for the line, but not a bad one by any means. - The third line looked great, netting Wilbur 3 goals. The only weak link was Koechling who got himself into great scoring opportunities, but never really got a shot on goal (even on a breakaway) - Perpetual third line center Mitchell Landsinger is quietly making a big impact. He hits, he scores, he wins draws, and he is a voracious forechecker. Landsinger and McClanathan are easily USC's best PK duo right now.
That's all I have for tonight! I don't think there will be any problems with the broadcast whatsoever tomorrow night at home, so if you can't make it, be sure to tune in at 7:30 to hear USC's first chance to clinch the Crosstown Cup!
Thanks a lot! -Alex
