Alright, as promised I have some info about the team's new additions and the current line pairings. Most of the information matches up with the expected roster for SDSU except for one minor change. I apologize for any misspellings... a lot of these names will be better hammered out when the official roster is released. LINES (OFFENSE) 1st Line Alex Lofthus, Mike Joyce, Jay Roth 2nd Line Tyler McLinn, Michael Nijjar, Emile Nguyen 3rd Line Noah Comisar, Joshua Frazier, Charlie Mach 4th Line Clark McClanathan, Mitchell Landsinger, Max Szentveri Alternates Nate Neroni, Cerasuolo (forgot the first name) NOTE: Expect the second and third lines are second and third in name alone, expect both lines to get equal ice time.
LINE PAIRINGS (DEFENSE) Dante Carvaggio, Jason Bush Matt Lewis, Brent Ozaki Michael Gawlik, Alex Schauffhausen Johnathan Stallsmith (will dress as 7th defenseman), James Anderson
GOALIES Matt Buttweiler James Carcich
SCOUTING REPORT Jay Roth: The team is buzzing about this guy. Was out from practice due to illness, but could be one of the fastest players on the team. Dante Carvaggio: Would be listed on the team's depth chart as the #1 overall defender. Quick, powerful slapshot, shutdown defender that sticks with other skaters stride for stride. Not afraid to be aggressive. Emile Nguyen: Hard skater. Moved from the fourth line to the second line because of his strong play with Joyce and Lofthus during a team scrimmage. Not afraid to grind and hustle. Noah Comisar: Looks like a very solid player. Has great chemistry with.... Charlie Mach: Really looked impressive in the team's scrimmage. Smart player who doesn't seem to get caught out of position a lot. Cerasuolo: Smallest guy on the team, could make more of an impact next season as he gets more used to the Trojan style of hockey. James Anderson: Big defenseman, could use a few years in the program to develop and learn under some of the veteran guys.
OTHER NOTES: Michael Nijjar looked particularly impressive in practice... look for him to find himself on the scoresheet a lot this season. Mach to Comisar could be a deadly goal scoring combination for seasons to come. Schauffhausen will miss this weekend's series. Stallsmith will take his place on a line with Gawlik. Several prominent players have new numbers for the Trojans. Joyce went from 17 to 15. Lofthus went from 19 to 12. Ozaki went from 18 to 17. Team president Jonathan Stallsmith went from 12 to 4. This is a particularly deep team, with a lot of exciting but unproven players on offense, and a rock-solid veteran defense. If the team can find any degree of chemistry, it could be very fun to watch. The Achilles heel could be a lack of depth at goalkeeper. The Trojans do not have their netminder for the future as an understudy to Buttweiler.
