USC had already clinched a spot in the Pac-8 Playoffs before tonight's debacle against UCLA, but how close were they to missing? Very. USC finished with 15.0 points to Washington's 14.5. Stanford actually beat Cal on their home ice 5-3. If Stanford had won Friday night or even 1 more contest over the course of the season, USC is out Washington is in. Luckily for the Trojans, in reality they're still in. They will face Arizona State in the first round of the Pac 8 Playoffs as the tournament's #3 seed. Meanwhile, Pac-8 basement dweller Washington State, the tournament's host, will take on the #1 seed Oregon Ducks. The games will take place on February 14 and February 15 in Seattle.

Yeah I feel like that loss to UCLA was more a fluke than anything else. SC fans at least better hope it was!
I'm going to call it right now...we'll have an SC-Oregon final in the Pac-8 Tourney for the third year in a row!
