ucla lost to LMU 5-3 last week. I'm not sure if that is because ucla is worse or LMU is better, it's probably a combination of both. I can't see ucla doing a whole lot of good this season without Galstyan.
Also, ASU swept Oregon. What do you make of that? Long Beach played with ASU D1 (series split), and while LBSt owned us, I thought we could have played better and made a game of it on Friday. I expected ASU D2 to be pretty good this year. It's a confusing result because I can't imagine that ASU D1/D2 are on the same level, but I also can't imagine Oregon has dropped off a whole lot.

I'm thinking that part of the reason ASU beat Oregon is that Oregon has only been back on the ice since Sept. 25th and ASU had already had a couple games under their belt before playing Oregon... just a thought

I'll be interested to see a UCLA team without Marty Galysten (sp?)
It's definitely tough to replace a player of that caliber. They lost their goalie Kubalski too.

Foley, if you wanted the spelling for Galstyan, you should have copied mine because I checked to make sure it was correct so I wouldn't look foolish.

Is Washington that good? They are 6-0 and they killed CAL and Stanford. I know they were missing 6 guys for the 7-6 ot win over Stanford but with there full Roster they smoked them.

You know that is a great question...traditionally UW has had a very strong team. Dating back to 2005 (My first year as an SC hockey broadcaster) we went up there for a couple games and came away with 2 wins in some close, competitive games.
Last season though, they came down to Anaheim Ice and just got smoked (we outscored them 36-6 in 2 games). They didn't have their whole team, but that's still pretty bad.
This season, I wouldn't invest too much stock in the wins against Stanford and Portland St., but they took care of Cal in pretty decisive fashion. That being said, Cal lost 8-3 to San Jose State...a team we are as good as, if not a little better than.
It's always hard to judge this early in the season who the powerhouses are going to be, but UW certainly doesn't look to be a pushover.
Unfortunately we aren't playing them in the regular season. It may not be until we travel up to Cal on Nov. 9th and the 10th until we have any idea those Northern teams are.

Why are you not going there this season if they went there last year. Don't the PAC 8 teams flip flop every year? I heard they are good and that last year was a fluke. We will see they play Eastern next week.
