END OF THE FIRST Allessandro Mullane makes some great saves to close out the period strong for SJSU. Schauffhausen had a couple of close range opportunities but couldn't finish them off, including one right as time was about to expire. Back and forth play most of the period. Right now, the Spartans' finishing ability has them ahead. Spartans have the lead, but USC has a slight edge in quality chances. SHOTS: 16 - 11 USC after one.

I may be coming on for the second and third periods of this game via cell phone, so tune in in about 10 minutes. We're doing two separate play-by-play broadcasts. One for everyone at home and another for the game tape Mr. Lewis is filming. I'll be bringing you the online broadcast.

It's a little tough to be considering the 3-6 record post winter break. All I'll say is Ryder Fyrwald better make the trip for USC. The Trojans, after the break, are 3-1 with Ryder out there (the one loss being 4-3 Friday against SJSU) and 0-5 without him.
